Job Description
Maintains, operates and repairs building and utilities equipment including high pressure boilers, refrigeration equipment, emergency generators and transfer switches, HVAC systems, building management systems, medical gas systems and related equipment. Inspects all equipment and makes repairs.
Job Responsibility
Checks building conditions on a regular basis and performs maintenance, plumbing, minor electrical, carpentry and painting as indicated.Performs monthly Preventative Maintenance to include: Air Handlers, Exhaust Fans, Pumps, Cooling Towers, etc.
Repairs leaks and replaces defective piping, plumbing fixtures and maintains other plumbing systems.All necessary materials will be supplied by the Senior Master Mechanic of the various shops.
Maintains and provides proper water treatment to HVAC system and boiler chemistry
Installs and repairs hardware such as door closures and locks.
Repairs partitions, ceilings (replaces tiles), floor tiles, floors, plumbing fixtures.
Install and service thermostats, reheat, preheat, and chilled water coils.
Changes and cleans filters for ventilation systems.
Performs other items of work as assigned or directed, including moving equipment, painting, demolition work, etc.
Operates Fire Alarm and associated equipment as directed.
Perform soldering and brazing operations.
Performs related duties as required by the Utilities Manager, Utilities Supervisor, Senior Master Mechanic, and Senior Mechanic.
Maintains and repairs electrical circuits and is able to follow simple circuit diagramsMaintains and repairs all associated HVAC piping, including coils, supplies, returns, traps, strainers and valves.
Performs related duties as required.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
Must be able to lift and move heavy materials and equipment weighting up to approximately 100lbs
Must have acceptable corrected visual acuity.
Job Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
1-3 years Trade School or field experience required.
1-3 years working in direct relation to one or more of the following: steam boilers, chillers, air handlers, pumps, and cooling towers.
Read, write and speak English to understand and interpret written and verbal instructions.
Ability to use all standard plumbing and mechanics tools and equipment including, saws, grinders, pipe threader, levels, toilet augers, plungers, power and hand tools, ladders, painting supplies and any other equipment.Certificate of Fitness from FDNY Required with in (6) months of employment

G71 – Bulk Medical Gas
S12 – City Wide Sprinkler
S13 – City Wide Standpipe
S14 – Standpipe Multi Zone
S95 – Supervision of Fire Alarm and related Systems
F60 – Fire Guard for torch use
G60 – Torch use with flammable gases

The salary range for this position is $31.48-$34.53/hour
