Staff Nurse – Fairview

DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
The staff RN is a registered, professional nurse who is responsible for providing individualized nursing care for a specific group of patients. The staff RN has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate patient care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of the patient population served. The nurse coordinates care in collaboration with the patient, family, nurses, peers, physicians and allied health care providers. Assumes responsibility for the outcome of nursing care delivered.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
Experience:
Previous experience preferred.
Education and Training:
Associates degree in nursing required, BSN preferred.
License, Certification & Registration:
RN License – Currently licensed as an RN in Massachusetts
Other Requirements:
Ability to function independently under general guidance of the Director and follows the guidelines and protocols and/or policies and protocols specific to each unit. Duties require independent action and judgment. Utilizes time management, communication, planning, delegating, and problem solving in providing care. Must possess and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Must maintain emotional stability in emergency settings.
Other Addendum(s) Requirements
CPR
ACLS required within one year.
IV Qualifications required.
OR: Minimum 2 years experience in OR preferred.
CNOR preferred.
Recent scrub experience preferred.
PACU: Previous PACU experience or critical care experience required.
Thorough knowledge of nursing principles and procedures.
Sedation/Analgesia assessment monitoring.
Member of ASPAN preferred, willing to become certified within one year (CPAN).
PEARS – Pediatric Emergency Assessment and Stabilization required within one year of hire.
PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.
