Broad Function

In direct support of the goals and mission of SUNY Adirondack and under the direction and leadership of the President, the Vice President for Administrative Services and Treasurer leads the offices directly responsible for Business, Public Safety, Facilities, Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management, FSA and Budget. As the college’s Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, acts as the liaison between the administrative departments and the rest of the college community, as well as appropriate governing bodies. Advises the President on administrative, operational and financial matters, as well as other related issues.

The Vice President for Administrative Services and Treasurer ensures the provision of the necessary physical, and financial resources to support the College’s mission. Serves as Chief Financial Officer of the College. Provides cost-effective administrative support functions that are responsive to the needs of students, staff and community including: business, financial and accounting services, budget, facilities and environmental safety, public safety, capital, legal, and enterprise risk management and compliance. This position provides support for labor negotiations.

As a collaborative member of the President’s staff, the Vice President for Administrative Services and Treasurer participates in strategic discussions, formulates policy recommendations related to the position’s area of responsibility, and is expected to fully engage in the college’s annual budget, planning, and evaluation processes and leads departments within this position’s responsibility to do the same. As an exempt employee, the Vice President for Administrative Services and Treasurer is expected to take part in policy, planning, and personnel discussions and maintains a level of confidentiality required for this level of employee.

Major Responsibilities

Establishes a budget development process that is built on effective communication and that results in an equitable spending plan, while ensuring long term fiscal stability. Develops and manages the college’s Facilities Master Plan. Responsible for capital project development, funding, approval, implementation, and control processes. Leads the Faculty Student Association, Treasurer of the Adirondack Housing Association, and ex officio of the Administrative Affairs Committee.

In collaboration with direct reports, develops, monitors, and recommends annual plans and budgets to support the college’s mission and goals.

Represents the college, where appropriate, in interactions with local, state, and federal representatives relative to college business.

Ensures compliance with relevant College, Board of Trustees, SUNY, and state and federal education policies.

Researches and shares best practices in areas of responsibility and utilizes available data to inform strategic decisions.

Participates in state and national professional associations.

Identifies current and anticipate fiscal challenges and opportunities and advises the President, Trustees, Sponsors and College Community on effective strategies to maintain fiscal strength.

Oversees college investments pursuant the Board of Trustees policy.

In consultation with the Audit and Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees, provides oversight for the annual financial statement audit.

Coordinates the preparation of and administers the Facilities Master Plan, prioritizing projects, identifying funding sources, communicating plans and needs to stakeholders, and coordinating facility design with the Director of Facilities and other campus stakeholders.

Serves as the college Records Officer and oversees the depository of all contracts and agreements.

Oversees an effective Emergency Management Plan for the campus.

Confers with the Incident Commander (Director of Public Safety) and the President in the case of potential emergency closing situations and decide.

Other duties as assigned by the President.

Required Skills

Strong analytical, financial, and administrative background with demonstrated knowledge in accounting principles, facilities, and regulatory environments. Ability to plan, coordinate, and evaluate the work of others; strong interpersonal skills to enhance relationships with officials, executives, and community leaders; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; initiative and resourcefulness in the formulation and implementation of administrative programs; diplomacy, integrity, loyalty, resourcefulness, and sound professional judgment in decision-making.

Educational Requirements

CPA, MBA or MS in Business Related subject.

Years of Experience

At least 10 years of progressively responsible accounting or finance related administrative positions, preferably in a higher education setting with labor management entities.

Salary Range

$132,386 – $198,579

Salary determination will be made at the time of the offer based on actual demonstrated years of experience in this exact position.
