Position Summary

Performs, as needed, a variety of installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair duties on complex laboratory, process, and utility instrumentation, working closely with the Maintenance, Operations and Automation groups, in a primarily paperless work environment, following SOPs in a cGMP facility.

May work on assignments that are extremely complex in nature where independent action and a high degree if initiative are required in resolving problems and developing recommendation to management.

Incumbents act independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments with appropriate approval from management.

Initial Phase: The Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) Senior Metrology Technician is responsible for supporting and driving the start-up, qualification, calibration/preventative maintenance (CAL/PM) program, and the development of SOPs for ADCs and other bioconjugate molecules. This individual will collaborate in a team-driven environment on customer projects to enable the transfer to GMP manufacturing. During the facility build and start-up phases, this role will influence both process and organizational design. During this phase, the work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Final Phase: As the facility transitions to the release phase, this role will focus on operational readiness, including facility and equipment qualification support, and will be accountable for executing the CAL/PM program in compliance with all regulatory requirements. The individual will be responsible for fostering a team culture of continuous improvement and the pursuit of operational excellence. Post-implementation, the work schedule will remain Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, to support ongoing operations. Based on workload and production schedules, the technician may also be asked to assist with calibrations in Building 58.

Education & Experience

Knowledge of science generally attained through studies resulting in an Associate’s Degree in electronics technology or equivalent training.

A minimum of eight years of experience applying the knowledge, principles, and practices relevant to calibration and instrumentation.

Demonstrated ability with common computer tools such as word processing, spreadsheet, and web-based applications.

Computer literate in Maximo or similar computer-based maintenance program.

Knowledge of both calibration and maintenance of instrumentation on biotech manufacturing equipment.

Demonstrated proficiency in common computer tools such as word processing, spreadsheet, and web-based applications.

Knowledge of ISA standards and the principles/practices relevant to calibration and instrumentation.

Thorough understanding of operating principles of industrial instrumentation and control systems.

Knowledgeable in P&IDs control theories and techniques and have ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot engineering drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.

Knowledge of basic relay ladder logic, programmable logic controllers, and distributed control systems.

Knowledge of Device Net and Foundation Fieldbus instrumentation, DeltaV distributed control system, and Rosemount’s A.M.S. Software.

Work Environment

This position may require the employee to work in areas where chemical, biologic, and environmental risks are present.

This position is located a medium scale manufacturing facility with classified areas requiring appropriate gowning and personal protective equipment (PPE). This role will require contact with hazardous materials such as caustic, acids and steam.

No formal supervision exercised, but may be required to provide guidance, oversight to work activities and mentor less experienced staff members. Operate as back-up to Facilities and Engineering Shift Supervisor on daily coordination as needed.

Physical Demands

This position is located a medium scale manufacturing facility with classified areas requiring appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). This role will require contact with hazardous materials such as caustic, acids and steam. Frequent bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and reaching is required. Role also requires frequent unassisted lifting (not to exceed 50 lbs.).

This position is a team-based position that requires may require shift work, weekends, holidays, emergency call-ins and overtime.
