SHIFT: Full-Time, Days

Pay range $100,000 to $110,000 depending on experience

JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Nursing plans, organizes, develops, and directs the overall operations of the Nursing Service Department in accordance with all state, federal, and local guidelines/regulations to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the nursing practice of the licensed professionals and paraprofessionals within the nursing department

Coordinates nursing services with other resident care services such as Physician services, P.T., O.T., Speech Therapy, Activities, Dietary, Social Services, and Pharmacy Services

Serves only this facility

Competently assumes responsibility of the Administrator in his/her absence

Works closely with and supervises all activities of the Assistant Director of Nursing and the Director of Education and Quality

Responsible for the coordination of physician services. Oversees the coordination of all physicians and their associates that provide services for the facility. Establishes standards of supervision for designated employees

Keeps abreast of economic conditions/situations and makes recommendations, for administrative adjustments in nursing services that ensure the continued ability to provide quality care

Makes recommendations to the Administrator for the purchase of medical supplies and equipment to sufficiently maintain and/or treat resident conditions in the facility

Prior to the admission of residents, participates with other designated personnel in determining the eligibility of applicants and the appropriateness of placement

Focuses on the full scope of the residents needs and how they can be best met

Aware of and functions according to the guidelines and standards set for Medicare Part A providers. Maintains current records and ensures necessary documentation as required for continued payment by Medicare Part A

Ensures that MDS groupers are completed in a timely and accurate manner as outlined in policies/procedures. Prepares room rate information as per The McGuire Group policies

Maintains and adheres to a master staffing plan

Accepts responsibility for the execution of resident care policies as directed by the Medical Director

All other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:• New York State Registered Professional Nurse licensure • 5-10 years experience in long-term care facility preferred• Able to interpret patient information and make critical decisions about necessary actions.• Ability to supervise and work well with and show respect toward other healthcare personnel (i.e., CNAs, LPNs, physicians, etc.), residents, and their family members• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to follow written and oral instructions• Able to perform tasks while upholding high standards of quality, cleanliness, and kindness• Physical endurance for frequent activity; ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
