Qualifications:
Valid New York State Physical Education teacher certification or valid New York State coaching certification. Knowledge and background in the assigned sport. Previous coaching experience in the assigned sport is desired. Lyons Central School District employees preferred or other qualifications as determined by the Superintendent of Schools.

Job Goal:
To instruct athletes in fundamentals, strategy and physical training necessary for them to reach a degree of individual and team success. To exhibit behavior and offer instruction that will lead to the formulation of strong moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and self-confidence of athletes. To strive for quality and promote pride in all District endeavors. To fulfill the Mission of the District and the school assigned.
Responsibilities:
Adheres to all Athletic policies, the Code of Ethics and Rules for Athletics and academic eligibility policies of the District.
Has knowledge of NYSPHSAA, Section V, Wayne County Athletic Association regulations; implements the same consistently.
Attends all required public, staff, department and/or league meetings.
Maintains appropriate discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program.
Maintains proper attendance records, lettering requirements, team statistics, etc.
Supervises athletes before, during, and after all practice sessions and contests.
Participates in all associated athletic award presentation ceremonies and the Athletic Banquet.
Assists and advises the Athletic Director in scheduling contests, special athletic events, budget development, policy, and procedure.
Assists the Athletic Director in scheduling facilities for practice sessions.
Completes accurately and promptly all required documents and processes to fulfill State, league, and District requirements and needs.
Provides athletes and parents with practice schedules.
Provides training rules and other regulations of the sport to each athlete and parent.
Aids and guidance to, and safeguards each athlete at all practice sessions and contests.
Accounts for all equipment and uniforms issued to their team.
Secures all equipment and facilities prior to leaving the building/grounds.
Instills in each athlete a respect for all equipment and school property as well as proper care and use.
Oversees the conditions of the facility or area in which the assigned sport is conducted and makes appropriate recommendations to the Athletic Director for its upkeep, repairs, etc.
Organizes parents and players pre-season meetings.
Is responsible for reporting all scores and other newsworthy information to local media sources.
Serves as liaison between the District and the booster club.
Works cooperatively with school personnel, students and the community.
Carries out any other assigned duties and/or responsibilities which may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent of Schools (or designee) and the Board of Education
Other : Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Athletic Director in accordance with Board of Education policy.
Terms of Employment:
Appointments are for the term of the sports season, according to the terms and conditions of the negotiated agreement with the Teachers Association.
