Overview

The Manager, Zero Trust Security will be an agent of change committed to the implementation of NFCUs Zero Trust Security framework. Deliver the implementation of Zero Trust capabilities. Manage the Zero Trust team in a dynamic and agile environment. Must be comfortable with oversight, contextualizing and mapping workstreams to be aligned with strategic initiatives. Serve as a trusted partner and strategic advisor to the organization by building effective working relationships and collaborating across organizations and business units. Work with stakeholders across the enterprise to update roadmaps and execution plans.

Responsibilities

Drive the development of technology strategy and a roadmap towards a Zero Trust paradigm including integration with Identity and Access Management (IAM), Data Security, Endpoint Security, Policy and Trust engines, Analytics and Automation

Utilize threat modeling techniques to develop Zero Trust controls to be applied to architecture data, assets, applications, and services to include networks, and identities

Champion Zero Trust principles across all pillars of delivery at NFCU including new technologies such as SASE, cloud technologies, enterprise identity and data encryption

Partner with stakeholders to shift the access and authentication paradigm across NFCU to Zero Trust Security and reduce risk to include insider threat

Assist with leading and training team members to deliver high quality products that are horizontally coordinated, vetted and include pros and cons options.

Participate in shaping budget requirements, justification, documentation and alignment to key strategic initiatives

Serve as the Business Product Owner for NFCUs Zero Trust strategy; responsible for leading the effort to organize the execution of blueprints by influencing and building coalitions across multiple departments and disciplines

Partner with Enterprise Architecture to define, design, and deliver the blueprint for a Zero Trust platform that encompasses NFCUs data, assets, applications, and services to include networks, and identities

Act as an advisor on authorization and authentication systems, infrastructure, and implementation techniques to drive Zero Trust architecture

Work with teams supporting policies and standards and provide in-depth knowledge and guidelines driving towards a Zero Trust solution

Build strong partnerships with business units to promote adoption of Zero Trust capabilities

Collaborate with senior management on decisions regarding prioritization and implementation of Zero Trust capabilities

Guide team development for continual growth in technical, soft and leadership skills

Ensure compliance with all HR related policies, practices and procedures, such as timekeeping, recruiting, compensation, separations, leave usage, etc.

Ensure the team follows, complies with and regularly reviews all required policies, practices and procedures

Perform supervisory/managerial responsibilities:

Supervise daily activities

Establish performance goals and priorities

Assist with preparing and conducting reviewing performance appraisals

Develop, mentor, and coach team

Provide input and/or prepare budget requirements for Annual Financial Plan (AFP)

Ensure section/branch goals and objectives align with division/department strategy

Ensure efficiency of workstreams

Act as Manager in the incumbents absence

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or related field, or the equivalent education, training, and experience

Extensive hands-on experience on the implementation of Zero Trust principles

Demonstrated experience delivering Zero Trust capabilities

Deliver on defining the strategy and roadmaps for Zero Trust technology products, service standards, and governance routines

Deliver, advise, partner on Zero Trust security design, configuration, and solutions

Deep technology expertise in infrastructure including cloud and hybrid implementations, applications and security

Demonstrated ability to be adaptable and flexible in dynamic environments

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Effective organizational, planning and time management skills

Extensive years of experience in enterprise security, including familiarity of data architecture and identity ecosystems

Understanding and delivery experience with leading security frameworks including Zero Trust

Knowledge application concepts and development and secure authentication and data patterns

Significant experience in leading, guiding, and mentoring others

Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver on multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment

Expert skill maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating integrity

Effective skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions

Significant experience in operating within a consensus culture in a complex organization that requires interacting with and influencing a wide range of stakeholders

A self-starter with a “can-do” attitude; a driver and implementer who possesses the poise and ability to act calmly and competently in high-pressure, high-stress situations

Expert interpersonal and communication skills, including experience working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, and vendors diplomatically and tactfully

Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity, and persistence to move ahead regardless of barriers.

Expertise in demonstrating thought leadership, initiative taking, decision-making and creativity in solving technology, cybersecurity, and business problems

Extensive experience supervising and leading professional employees

Expert experience managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals

Expert skill in leading with diplomacy and tact while maintaining appropriate assertiveness and persistence

Expert skill to influence, negotiate and persuade to reach agreeable exchange & positive outcomes

Expert analytical/quantitative, critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills

Expert skill presenting findings/issues, conclusions, alternatives, and information clearly and concisely for executive consumption.

Expert word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills

Working knowledge of applicable NCUA regulations governing credit unions as related to cyber security

Excellent knowledge of applicable NIST and industry best practices for credit unions and financial institutions as related to cyber security

Desired Qualifications

Experience with Oracle Cloud HCM, Azure, Saviynt, data lakes and SIEMs

Experience within a credit union or financial services institutions

Familiarity with working with regulators in the financial services industry

Advanced knowledge of Navy Federals functions, philosophy, operations and organizational objectives

Working Knowledge of Navy Federals products, services, programs, policies, and procedures

Professional Certifications (CCZT, ZTCA, CSA, CISA, CISSP, etc.)

Masters degree in IT, Cybersecurity, technology/business management or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
