This position is at the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) in the Office of the Chief Information Officer. This position serves as an IT Specialist (INFOSEC). Responsibilities As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC), you will: Collect, process, preserve, analyze, and present computer and cloud-related (e.g., Azure, Microsoft Defender, Elastic, etc.) digital forensics evidence in support of network vulnerability mitigation, and/or criminal, fraud, counterintelligence, or law enforcement investigations. Use defensive measures and information collected from a variety of cybersecurity and cloud security sources to identify, analyze, and report events and tune alerts to protect information, information systems, and networks from threats. Conduct assessments of threats and vulnerabilities, determine deviations from acceptable configurations, enterprise or local policy, assesses the level of risk, and develops and/or recommends appropriate mitigation countermeasures in operational and non-operational situations. Design, configure, maintain, or monitor cybersecurity solutions and cloud security services (e.g., Azure, Microsoft Defender, Elastic, etc.). Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants must possess IT related experience demonstrating EACH of the four IT Specialist competencies AND one year of specialized experience as described below: Attention to Detail – Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service – Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; and is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication – Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving – Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. You must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To qualify at the CU-12 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the CU/GS-11 level in federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is defined as experience in all of the following areas: Administering and monitoring Azure and M365 services as a cyber security analyst. Administering and monitoring cybersecurity solutions. Executing aspects of the cyber-attack lifecycle to inform cyber defense operations. To qualify at the CU-13 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the CU/GS-12 level in federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is defined as experience in all of the following areas: Administering and monitoring Azure and M365 services as a cyber security analyst. Administering and monitoring cybersecurity solutions. Managing aspects of the cyber-attack lifecycle to inform cyber defense operations. Initiating actions to satisfy requirements for defensive cyber operations to protect data, applications, platforms, and networks.
