Job Description
To perform a high level of preventive maintenance on a variety of light commercial mechanical equipment at an institutional setting. To work independently to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC auxiliary equipment, plumbing equipment related to mechanical equipment, electrical equipment such as motors, breakers and their associated controls.

Demonstrate the ability to use and follow department and manufacture recommendations and guidelines both written and oral to perform preventive maintenance on HVAC , Plumbing, and electrical equipment and their associated controls. To be knowledgeable of all hand tools use in the trades such as electrical testing meter, water gauges and alignment instruments to perform preventive maintenance on a verity of mechanical equipment.

Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record.

Level and type of experience
Considerable knowledge of commercial type mechanical equipment and their operation. Background in building mechanical maintenance and repair in a commercial institutional setting. Considerable knowledge in building HVAC and plumbing operation. Basic knowledge in electrical field.
Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)
To hold either a journeyman or master license in HVAC , electrical or plumbing trade or equivalent training or certification in all or one of these trades. Backflow license approved by the City of Norfolk. Training in preventive maintenance and/or repair of building mechanical equipment in one or more trades or equivalent work experience.
Conditions of Employment
Facilities Management employees are considered essential personnel and subject to working during university closings.
