MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a major in chemistry or biochemistry and one (1) year of professional chemical or biochemical experience;or
A masters degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry or biochemistry.

JOB DUTIES:
Analyze petroleum, anti-freeze and brake fluid products to verify compliance with the latest American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and/or state of Florida specifications using the appropriate methods and Standard Operating Procedures. Utilize the bureaus Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to aide in the collection, analysis, review and authorization of analytical results, quality control system and other associated laboratory information. Maintain, calibrate and operate analytical instrumentation to facilitate accurate and timely sample analyses. Maintain inventory of supplies and parts required to ensure accurate and timely analyses of samples via assigned instrumentation.
Participate in and assist the Laboratory Manager in monitoring the laboratory’s implementation of the bureau’s Quality Control Program. This includes proper and successful analyses of proficiency samples in addition to routine quality control procedures as dictated by the bureaus quality control plan.
Receive and unpack sample cases while observing strict safety rules due to the flammable nature of the samples. Prepare samples, prioritize, and distribute using quantitative and qualitative judgments. Keep records and determine priorities of all types of shipments to and from the laboratory.
Keep up to date with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the analysis of petroleum products, safety rules, analytical procedures, and available instrumentation.
Perform other related duties such as, but not limited to, administrative paperwork, and other non-technical duties as required by management.
