Structural Detailer – Fort Wayne, IN
A growing, mid-sized engineering company focused within the construction and architectural industry is hiring a Structural Detailers to their team in Fort Wayne, IN! This Detailer will work specifically with fabrication projects for Structural Steel Joist and Deck Building Systems, and will perform the specification and engineering of these systems for their clients. The structure of the teams involves Team Leads who run a team of 4-6 detailers, which typically includes a “checker” who helps to check the work of the detailers for accuracy. The Fort Wayne office currently has up to 14 Individuals, along with a number of Corporate Individuals who run the back-office and the Company President. Training and Development will be provided by the Team Leads and additional Designers/Detailers on the team.
This position is open due to an increase in workload, as well as the company currently moving their Deck Building Systems team to their Fort Wayne offices. This is a great way for candidates with minimal experience to gain additional industry and school experiences that will advance their career potential. Job Responsibilities:
Take customer drawings, convert to simple drawings using AutoCAD 2D, then create plans to manufacture product and deliver to the customer.
Spend about 50% of the time using AutoCAD 2D to create detailed drawings, and the other 50% of the time coordinating with internal/external partners to assist with any problem-solving and project delivery.
Use a propriety add-in within AutoCAD 2D which will be taught to each individual.
Work on 5-6 projects at different stages of completion and execute work within tight timelines while navigating ambiguity.
Job Requirements:
Basic Experience within Design Software, such as AutoCAD or Solidworks
Strong Mathematics and Analytical Skills (math assessment may be required during interview process)
Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills to Effectively Work with Internal/External Partners
Strong Professional Working Experience, and Ability to Demonstrate Professionalism Onsite
Ability to Multi-Task and be Held Accountable to Metrics, Results, Deadlines, and Quality
Goal-Oriented, Deadline-Driven, and Flexible Mindset with Strong Collaboration
Ability to Give and Receive Feedback, and Adjust to Day-to-Day Tasks Quickly
Preferred out Not Required – Experience on Steel, Joists, Decking, and/or Structural Design projects
