Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Department: Materials
Summary Coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keepings records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, production orders and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
Determines space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and lays out position of shipment.
Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded truck doors.
Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
Resolves receiving discrepancies from suppliers.
Coordinates all outgoing shipments with respective dock times.
Schedules pick-up times with customer logistics department.
Posts weight and shipping charges.
Coordinates material flow for commercial customers with scheduled dock times.
Prepares bills of lading.
Maintains time records.
Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of shipping methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
Adjusts errors and complaints.
Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
