Job Title: Financial Reporting Supervisor

Department: Accounting

FLSA: Exempt

General Function:

The Financial Reporting Supervisor is responsible for the accounting of various departments, reconciling general ledger accounts, and financial statement preparation. This stockholder position requires solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, experience performing month end closings, high attention to detail, and accuracy. A good candidate also has advanced Excel knowledge, the ability to work in a team or independently on projects, effective time management of multiple deadlines, strong multi-tasking skills, a strong work ethic, commitment to the company’s core fundamentals, and the ability to be flexible.

Reporting Relations:

Accountable and Reports to: Director, Financial Reporting

Positions that Report to you: Various

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the execution of general ledger balancing and financial statement preparation.

Completes monthly accounting close, including preparation and review of journal entries, analytical reports and account reconciliations.

Conducts in-depth financial statement analysis.

Analyzes and works to resolve complex accounting issues that arise.

Responsible for the quarterly preparation of store profit sheets.

Performs various project analysis and other ad-hoc research and analysis as assigned.

Assists in annual year-end by preparing schedules and providing documentation to key stakeholders.

Supervisors a designated department and its group of employees.

Makes recommendations to improve accounting and control procedures.

Reports to work when scheduled and works expected number of hours.

Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting or related field.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsible for instructing, assigning, reviewing, planning work of others, and coordinating activities.

Has the authority to recommend disciplinary actions.

Physical Requirements:

Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near range with or without correction.

Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 10 pounds, and occasionally standing or walking.

Must be able to perform the following physical activities: reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions:

The duties of this position are performed in a general office setting. There is frequent pressure to meet deadlines.

Equipment Used to Perform Job:

Calculator, telephone, copier, printer, and PC with Microsoft Office programs.

Contacts:

Has daily contact with store personnel. Has weekly contact with suppliers and vendors to obtain and provide information. Has occasional contact with customers and various state agencies.

Confidentiality:

Has access to confidential information including financial and stockholder information.
