Job Description:
Position Title: Operations Manager
Position Classification: Full-time, Exempt
Time Commitment: This position includes regular weekend and evening shifts for Levitt concerts and events during the summer season. Flexible scheduling during the workweek with the possibility of remote work.
Compensation: $40,000- $50,000 annually, depending on experience, plus benefits
Reports To: Executive Director

Position Overview: The Operations Manager will be the facility and logistics lead on-site for Levitt events and coordinate outside rental opportunities and vendors for the Sioux Falls Levitt Shell. The Operations Manager will build strong relationships with rental clients and Levitt vendors and will serve as a liaison with the City of Sioux Falls. This position will provide administrative support, including safety planning and technology needs for the Levitt, and will assist with the artist contracting and advancement process. The successful candidate should be an enthusiastic professional passionate about special event management. We are looking for an individual with outstanding communication skills who is safety-minded, detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and capable of building strong, positive relationships with partners.

Responsibilities:

– Manage facility needs and day-of logistics for Levitt programs, including 50 free summer concerts and special events.
– Oversee and coordinate part-time event staff and interns, including the setup/tear-down crew, parking lot attendants, and live streaming team, to ensure smooth and efficient event operations.
– Perform setup/tear-down labor and supervise the work of both paid staff and volunteers recruited to assist.
– Manage the maintenance and storage of Levitt equipment
– Support the Levitt President/CEO in the contracting and advancing of bands
– Work alongside Levitt team members at all concerts and events in any capacity needed to ensure an exceptional experience for our guests and audience
– Manage the client relationships and implementation of facility rental events
– Manage relationships and contracts with 3rd party vendors (production, beverage sales, food trucks, and security)
– Acts as liaison with City of Sioux Falls Parks and Rec for numerous facility-related functions (city code compliance, parking, licenses, permits, inspections, and facility maintenance)
– Responsible for managing all aspects of sound operation for off-site Levitt outreach events, including the setup, operation, and teardown of the portable sound system and artist production advance
– Ensure efficient IT systems are available for office and facility operations, including appropriate equipment, programs, maintenance, data safety, and storage
– Update and regularly train Levitt personnel on industry best practice safety protocols (including risk assessment, cleaning protocols, severe weather, crowd management, and operations manuals)

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervise part-time event staff and interns. Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, and training employees with assistance from Levitt leadership; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Key Qualifications:

– 3 plus years of experience coordinating events, facility rentals, operations, or productions, preferably for nonprofit organizations
– Demonstrated successful experience in a supervisory role

Skills and Knowledge Qualifications:

– Experienced in navigating and integrating multiple software platforms, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, and other technology tools to streamline processes
– Sound business judgment in matters of contractual obligations, artist agreements, event billing settlements, and front-of-house and back-of-house operations
– A highly motivated individual who also excels in a collaborative setting
– Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
– The ability to work under deadlines and have the flexibility to multi-task a wide range of projects
– Working knowledge of production elements (lighting, sound, and video) preferred
– Excellent communication and intermediary skills are necessary to work effectively with a diverse group of constituencies

Physical Demands:

– Ability to lift, push, and carry 50 pounds; stand for extended periods of time; and traverse the grounds of an outside, sloped venue in all kinds of weather
– Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation
– Must be able and willing to work all events, including regular evenings and weekends during the summer
