Job Description
The U.S. healthcare system is complex and evolving. For AbbVie to lead the industry in this environment, it is vital that our US Market Access (USMAx) Strategy and Pipeline Team thoroughly comprehend the current and future state of the evolving U.S. healthcare space and market access channels.
The Director, USMAx Pipeline, Neuroscience will lead U.S. market access strategy development for early pipeline priority assets within the broad AbbVie Neuroscience and Eyecare franchise, focused mainly on Neuroscience assets. The Director USMAx Pipeline will help integrate the understanding of the complex U.S. health system and the needs and requirements of U.S. payers into early asset development and bring the voice of U.S. payers to our early drug development process. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of US private and public payer segments, pharmacy and medical benefit reimbursement, buy and bill and the IRA. The candidate must be able to think strategically and critically and build strong and trusting relationships for cross functional influence and able to fully and properly represent US Market Access in pipeline governance and business development discussions (as required).
The Director will align with cross-functional colleagues in Pipeline Commercialization Strategy (PCS) and Commercial Leadership to determine USMAx project and deliverable prioritization and lead delivery of such projects. The role will ensure integration within the AbbVie Pipeline Commercialization Model including co-leadership of the Value and Access Teams (VATs) with International Market Access (IMAP) Colleagues and lead creation of US EIVPs (Early Integrated Value Proposition) and Integrated Access Strategies (IAS). The Director will also participate within Asset Strategy Team discussions and provide leadership within other Pipeline Commercialization Model teams as needed. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of supporting a positive team culture, building deep cross-functional stakeholder alignment, experience in U.S. payer marketing strategy development, and an understanding of the AbbVie Pipeline Commercialization Model.
Specific Accountabilities Include:
· Lead the creation of Integrated Asset Strategies, Disease Area Strategies and Early Integrated Value Propositions within the AbbVie Neuroscience Portfolio and collaborate with Teams across BUs, IMAP, Medical, HEOR, IRA, R&D and others to ensure the value drivers of USMAx Decision Makers are incorporated into Pipeline Commercialization Strategies.
· Inform Clinical Development Programs such that endpoints and evidence generation plans (i.e. clinical, economic and humanistic outcomes) are incorporated that will support optimized patient access.
· Ensure project resource needs are met; secure and allocate budget across asset assignments to meet critical enterprise goals for Pipeline assets.
· Inform early asset development especially through Touchpoints of 1-7-5 focused on market access evidence requirements and market shaping opportunities.
· Ensure that deep USMAx insights are embedded consistently in all Early Pipeline Touchpoints and that strategies to support optimal asset development and market shaping are initiated in a timely fashion until hand-off to Sr. Directors, MAx Marketing for launch preparation.
· Provide strong asset leadership representing USMAx Pipeline as the point of contact for Neuroscience stakeholders
· Act as a critical partner to key internal stakeholders who drive early pipeline strategy including US Commercial Leadership, Asset Strategy Leadership, Pipeline Commercial Strategy Leadership, Medical Affairs/HEOR and International Market Access and Pricing.
· Represent USMAx Early Pipeline at governance as needed (e.g., TASC, Toxin office, DRG, etc.)
· Contribute critical strategic thinking to inform access and pricing assumptions to create accurate, market driven LRP assumptions for early Neuroscience pipeline assets. Coordinate and act as pipeline lead, accountable for USMAx financial LRP and strategic LRP assumptions for all assigned assets.
· Work closely across USMAx Teams to stay close to channel customer dynamics and priorities, partner with IRA and strategy team to ensure optimal asset planning and inform strategic planning and decision making.
Qualifications
Proven ability to influence without authority and navigate complex organizational systems required
Deep subject matter expertise relevant to commercial and government payers is required
US market access experience highly preferred
Experience in developing compelling payer value propositions
Experience in leading primary and secondary payer research projects to inform payer insights, value drivers and channel strategies
Knowledge of government contracting, acquisition trends and customer buying behaviors.
Experience in Pipeline development and/or Market Access launches, ideally in the Neuroscience space
Experience with pharmacy and medical benefit products as well as differing acquisition models (e.g., Buy & Bill)
Previous neuroscience experience / knowledge in psychiatric disease states, Movement disorders, Neurodegeneration areas preferred
Strong strategic thinking, communications skills and executive presence required
Strong financial acumen and ability to comprehend complex planning scenarios required

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
