Marketing Technical Writer

This position primarily handles production copywriting for a significant volume of technically oriented marketing pieces, including application notes, white papers, protocols, brochures, handbooks, blogs, technical notes, video scripts, trade-show materials, scientific posters, and PowerPoint sales/training presentations. This position ensures these items implement to strict scientific accuracy, as well as our brand style and trademark guidelines, while always employing accurate grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc. These aspects of the position require a Jack- or Jill-of-all-trades who can think on their feet, write quickly and well, and enjoys taking challenging scientific subject matter and transforming it into persuasive marketing materials. This position does not involve writing technical manuals, specification documents, or instructional materials. Please do not submit samples of this type of writing.
Skills:
Strong scientific copywriting/copy editing background focusing on delivering concise content that adheres to our guidelines; ensure accurate trademark usage, grammar, punctuation, etc.; and upholds a consistent approach across all marketing materials
Proficient to detailed understanding of scientific and technical content
Ability to distill complex technical/scientific information
Deep knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) and CSE Scientific Style and Format style guides
Flexibility in writing and editing style, from providing basic grammatical repairs to “deep-dive” editorial passes
Outstanding attention to detail and high regard for quality
Ability to perform fact-checking as needed
Preference for and ability to do well in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication, interpersonal, and social skills
Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe InCopy, and Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to proactively identify and suggest improvements to processes and results
Understanding of customer and industry trends and marketing standard processes for both digital and traditional media
How will you get there?
MS in life sciences and/or chemistry. PhD strongly preferred.
2 years scientific copywriting experience
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $83,300.00–$110,000.00.
