The Patient Care Assistant on our Post Anesthesia Care unit play a key role in providing the highest quality of patient care while the patient is at Union Health . The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) provides specialized care to patients recovering from anesthesia. PACU nurses and staff monitor patients closely, manage post-operative pain, and ensure a smooth transition into recovery, contributing to the overall success of surgical interventions and patient well-being.

Patient Care Assistant job details:

Essential Job Duties:

Communicates effectively with all members of the patient care team.

Works under the direction of the RN to perform tasks such as:

Take vital signs

Answer patient call lights

Assist with ambulation and transporting

Prepares room for admissions and transfers

Other duties as assigned by nurse

Performs basic clerical skills:

Answering phone calls and relaying messages

Transcribing patient orders

Delivers records to various departments

Follows company policies and procedures and department protocols.

Assists visitors, physicians, patients and co-workers with requests.

Qualifications:

Certification is preferred, not required.

BLS level of CPR required

Previous Unit Secretary or Nursing Assistant experience desirable

Previous computer experience

Availability to work rotating weekends.
