Job Summary
Under the direction of a supervisor this position inspects, tests, installs, maintains, modifies, troubleshoots and repairs electrical circuits, appliances, systems, fixtures and related electrical controls and devices in compliance with all state and local electrical codes requirements. Acts a liaison with external electrical service providers, ensures permits are obtained and work is performed in compliance with all regulatory and hospital standards. Performs other duties as required and provides assistance to all other staff as needed.
Essential Functions
Ensures all electrical installations meet all elements of the Life Safety Code (NFPA 101) as required by regulatory agencies (CMS, AOA, Joint Commission).
Responsible for all electrical equipment. Obtains permits and performs electrical work as required by law, and functions as a liaison with external licensed electrical contractors.
Regularly inspects and evaluates electrical equipment to ensure that it operates efficiently and safely, follows recommended maintenance schedule for cleaning and lubricating equipment and maintains records on equipment status and maintenance. Evaluates and recommends cost saving measures and facility upgrades to include but not limited to high efficiency motors, electronic lighting, LED exit signs, etc.
Responds promptly to electrical trouble calls throughout BH, inspects and repairs varied electrical systems/equipment to include lights, power distribution, fan motors and the like.
Performs tests to ensure continuity of the circuit and compatibility and safety of all components using test equipment to locate malfunctions such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires, loose connections, and the like.
Uses appropriate tools and other special equipment to measure, cut, bend, thread wire, assemble and install electrical conduits, junction switches, outlet boxes and switchboards.
Studies blueprints and schematics and determines methods, materials, personnel and equipment needed to complete modification to the electrical system.
Must be eligible for overtime status. Is able to work reasonable extended hours to accomplish priority repairs and to fill in for disaster, vacation or illness coverage.

Qualifications
Required
Have a level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of a high school diploma or graduation from a trade or vocational school.
3 years of relevant experience to demonstrate a knowledge/experience that is normally acquired through a three to four- year electrical apprenticeship program.
5 years of relevant experience journeyman experience.
to have a demonstrated in-depth knowledge of electrical distribution systems and electrical devices such as controls, switches, starters, transformers, motors and panel boards.

Preferred
Minor welding skills.
Experience in a hospital environment.
