Overview

Kimley-Horn, a leading engineering consulting firm, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Subsurface Utility Engineer to join our team in Denver, Colorado. As a Senior Subsurface Utility Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and leading subsurface utility engineering projects, providing technical expertise, and collaborating with clients and team members to ensure successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

1. Project Management: Manage subsurface utility engineering projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to project scope, budget, and timeline. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate effective project execution.

2. Technical Expertise: Demonstrate a deep understanding of subsurface utility engineering principles, practices, and industry standards. Apply this knowledge to develop innovative solutions and provide technical guidance to project teams.

3. Utility Coordination: Lead efforts to identify, locate, and verify the existence of underground utilities within project areas. Coordinate with utility owners, surveyors, and other stakeholders to obtain utility information, resolve conflicts, and mitigate risks.

4. Utility Designation and Mapping: Utilize advanced techniques, such as ground-penetrating radar and electromagnetic induction, to accurately designate and map underground utilities. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.

5. Quality Control: Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of subsurface utility data. Review and validate utility records, field data, and reports to identify and resolve discrepancies.

6. Client Engagement: Serve as the main point of contact for clients, understanding their needs, and providing tailored solutions. Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication, collaboration, and delivery of high-quality work.

7. Team Leadership: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff members, fostering their professional growth and development. Lead by example, promoting a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation.

8. Business Development: Support business development efforts by identifying and pursuing new project opportunities. Attend industry events, conferences, and networking functions to promote the firms expertise in subsurface utility engineering.

Qualifications

Minimum of 8 years of experience in subsurface utility engineering, including project management and utility coordination.

Strong knowledge of subsurface utility engineering practices, techniques, and industry standards (ASCE 38-02).

Proficiency in utility designation and mapping technologies, such as GPR and electromagnetic induction.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex utility conflicts.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients, team members, and stakeholders.

Proven track record of successful project delivery and client satisfaction.

Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Survey or other related field preferred.

Ability to travel occasionally for client meetings, site visits, and project-related activities.

Salary Range:

$140k-$160k

Eligible for Performance Based Bonuses
