Nutrition Assistant

Fayette County Community Action Agency is excited to announce a Nutritionist Assistant vacancy in our Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program!   The Nutritionist Assistant is responsible for determining WIC eligibility in accordance with FCCAA and PA DOH policies and procedures.  This role also performs a variety of clinical and support functions required to process and provide services to program participants.  

 

Key responsibilities for this position include:

– Assists in the coordination and scheduling of client appointments
– Assists with screening and interviewing of potential and current participants (both initial certification and recertification)
– Assists the Nutritionist in performing health anthropometric and hemoglobin assessments
– Assists the Nutritionist in conducting client health screenings (including anthropometrics and hemoglobin testing) during intake and throughout the program
– Develops and maintains participant files and ensures records are accurately entered into Agency and State WIC systems
– Engages in outreach activities aimed at expanding program participation
– Promotes and supports participant breastfeeding
– Assists in eligibility certification in accordance with Federal and State regulations (assessing residency, financial eligibility, and nutrition risk)
– Maintains client files including growth charts for infants and children and weight grids for pregnant women
– Refers clients to other support services via interactions with community agencies
– Maintains client records and files in accordance with program guidelines
– Assists in WIC related special projects and/or pilot projects
– Provides excellent customer service to program participants and partner agencies
– Adheres to all policies, laws, regulations, and codes of ethics and confidentiality as outlined by federal and state laws and agency policies and procedures
– Performs other related duties as assigned by the Project Manager

 

Ideal candidates will have a Strong interest in nutrition and maternal and child health and be committed to the and well-being of Fayette County families. 

 

Successful applicants must also have a valid drivers license; and be able to successfully pass state and federal background requirements
