Masters Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Seven (7) years of full-time professional experience in a college or university undergraduate admissions office. Professional staff supervision experience. Proficiency with technology, office software and communication systems. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in an admissions setting working with application review or academic partnerships. Experience in reviewing applications for admission and making recommendations for admission policy. Experience working with diverse populations. Experience and knowledge with higher education technology platforms, i.e., SLATE. Experience with the following skills: conflict resolution, collaboration, training, relationship building, program planning and implementation.Brief Description of Duties:
The director will work with senior leaders to promote, enhance, and facilitate holistic application review and academic college and program partnerships. This position will work on enhancing application training and setting goals with academic partners and associated offices. The director maintains close relationships with faculty and staff across campus and external educational partners and helps to train staff across multiple populations. The director will provide day to day oversight of professional and seasonal staff members including coaching and evaluation while also managing program budgets. Duties:
- Build and implement admissions holistic evaluation review for domestic, transfer, international and special populations.
- Develops strategy and tools for application review.
- Ensure internal and external readers are trained and developed on admission policy and state and national policies and impacts that may influence holistic evaluation.
- Track application reading to ensure delivery of timely decisions in alignment with senior leaders and makes proactive recommendations to meet goals.
- Collaborate with operations and admissions systems team to enhance use of reader forms and platforms to help track progress and meet goals.
- Collaborate and serve as office liaison with academic colleges and programs related to undergraduate admission goals, class size, criteria.
- Facilitate academic partnership consortium and lead regular meetings and updates with the campus community.
- Develop academic liaison program within office structure.
- Engage in strategy and policy development, training, and implementation of academic and special academic policies for admission.
- Serve as facilitator and point of contact for university partner offices related to admission, i.e. faculty committees, athletics, disciplinary, honors, housing, EOP.
- Ensure staff is trained regularly on holistic admission review factors, provide regular trainings for staff focused on implicit bias and admission review tools, i.e. Landscape; assists other senior office leaders in inclusion of undergraduate admissions into specific academic programs hosted on campus where admission messaging may be appropriate to be shared.
- Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate external seasonal staff member(s).
- Hire staff and develops performance standards and performs annual evaluations for professional and support staff.
- Develop and monitor staff training and development programs.
- Have regular staff meetings to strengthen communication and performance.
- Assist in cross training of office staff.
- Complete special assignments or duties as assigned and engage in office and unit committees.
- Engage in holistic evaluation of admissions applications to the university and make recommendations on applicants; populations may include domestic, transfer, international, honors, EOP and other special populations.
- Collaborate on facilitation of honors and EOP/AIM review and admissions process.
- Make recommendations to policy that impact evaluation and processes.
- Coordinate review of processes and policies for deferrals, semester to semester updates, major change requests, disciplinary concerns, and reconsideration requests and facilitate appropriate communication for each.
- Facilitate and make recommendations of timing for decision release, waitlist consideration, and program capacities.
- Assist with implementation of SUNY initiatives (i.e. Top 10% Plan, Match), and university initiatives and programs; engage in professional development opportunities with application providers and organizations that will help inform updates and modifications to holistic evaluation process.
- Manage the program specific budget, ensuring the integrity of financial information, state, and IFR accounts.
- Responsible for accurate reconciliation of revenues, expenses, and allocations according to established policy.
- Develop short- and long-term plans for the office regarding staffing, resources, space, and equipment.
- Engage with students, families, school counselors, and university partner offices to provide information on admissions and enrollment processes and policies, may require research to provide appropriate resolution.
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and department mission.

This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
