The Shipping Receiving Internship is a temporary position within HII – Mission Technologies which prepares a college student for entry into the workforce by providing emphasis on training and gathering experience related to a students educational discipline and which is applicable to the business needs of the company. The position is for college students who are rising sophomores or juniors in their academic program.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Controls the efficient flow of goods, services, and information between points of origin through customer placement in order to meet customer requirements.
Ensures that customer service and time objectives are achieved within existing financial constraints in order to meet marketing and financial objectives.
Ensures the execution and continuous improvement of standard logistics processes, such as the replenishment system, data interchange systems, demand management, electronic data systems administration and related functions.
Builds relationships with strategic customers through logistics initiatives.
Integrates learning from customers, competitors, operating entities, distribution, transportation, customer service, other industries, industry groups, and professional training to continuously improve competitive position.
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Must currently be enrolled as a student in an accredited public or private college or university and have more than 20% of required college credits completed.
Must hold and be able to maintain a 3.0 GPA while participating in this internship.
Skills:
Excellent writing, communication and listening skills.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Must be diligent, hardworking and a fast learner.
Desires to gain professional experience and is eager to learn.
Physical Requirements
Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
