Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Libraries’ Education and Assessment, the Online Learning Librarian will lead the strategic direction for the Libraries’ online learning presence and integration into ODU Global. The Online Learning Librarian is responsible for the development and assessment of the Libraries’ tutorials, videos, and guides that are aligned with the university’s information literacy and research-related learning outcomes and courses. The Online Learning Librarian will collaborate with other librarians to identify or develop appropriate online learning tools for subject areas as needed. The Online Learning Librarian will conduct library instruction, and online workshops and programming designed to engage undergraduate students and will provide 1:1 research support to undergraduate students. The Online Learning Librarian will represent the ODU Libraries on university committees related to online learning.

Minimum Qualifications – knowledge, skills, and abilities
Basic skills in designing tutorials and videos using software such as Camtasia, Articulate 360, or Captivate.
Basic skills in developing online guides using Springshare products such as LibGuides.
Considerable ability to collaborate with colleagues to design and implement effective online teaching tools.
Considerable ability to provide basic research and reference support to undergraduate students.
Basic ability to teach online and in-person library instruction classes to undergraduate students.
Basic understanding of instructional design principles for creating effective online learning objects.
Basic knowledge of best practices for developing Web content
Basic knowledge of web usability and accessibility standards and practices.
Basic experience in developing online videos and tutorials, and/or other learning tools.
Basic experience with one or more higher education course management systems.
Basic experience with teaching research and information literacy skills and concepts to students in the face-to-face or online classroom.
Some project management experience.
Minimum Qualifications – Education or training
American Library Association accredited Master’s Degree in library and information science or accredited graduate degree in a related field
Minimum Qualifications – Special licenses, registration or certification
