Job Description

Old Dominion University invites applications for a full time, 10-month tenure track position for the Eastern Virginia Medical School Occupational Therapy Partnership Program, appointment effective July 25, 2024. Successful applicants will have teaching, service, and research responsibilities in content areas that match the applicant’s scholarship, clinical expertise, and the needs of the program.

In conjunction with the Program Director and other faculty, the successful candidate will assist in the development of curricular and content design and delivery and serve on relevant program committees such as recruitment, admissions, and strategic planning. The successful candidate will also contribute to advising occupational therapy students and mentoring faculty led research and capstone experiences. In addition, teaching, mentorship, and teaching opportunities within the Old Dominion University College of Health Sciences’ Kinesiology and Rehabilitation and the Health Services Research Ph.D. programs are available.

Minimum Qualifications – knowledge, skills, and abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum design and application of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice concepts in instructional delivery.

Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, advising, mentoring, and evaluating students.

Clinical practice expertise as an occupational therapist.

Experience in scholarly activities.

Minimum Qualifications – Education or training

Earned Ph.D. or equivalent academic degree from an accredited institution.

Minimum Qualifications – Special licenses, registration or certification

Initial certification with National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.

Licensed or eligibility for licensure as an occupational therapist in the State of Virginia.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with ACOTE accreditation standards.

Record of research publications in high quality peer-reviewed journals.

Experience teaching entry-level occupational therapy content.

Mentorship of graduate student research.
