The Laboratory of Dr. Jeremy P. Kamil in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics MMG at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position focused on cytomegalovirus CMV glycoproteins, viral glycobiology, and CMV cell tropism. We are seeking applicants who have research experience working with mouse and/or human cytomegaloviruses, BAC mutagenesis reverse genetics, and cell and molecular biology. Candidates with substantial experience in virology are encouraged to apply. A major focus of the Kamil lab is to identify how cytomegaloviruses exploit glycoimmune checkpoint signaling to establish persistent infection. A candidate with experience in the following techniques is strongly preferred: Glycerol tartrate gradient purification of murine CMV MCMV and/or human CMV HCMV virions. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative research team in a world-class department and will have access to state-of-the-art research facilities.

 

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Virology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, or a related field is required. At least 2 years of experience working with human and/or mouse cytomegaloviruses is required. A strong background and track record in one or more of the following areas are preferred: virus-host interactions, virus biology, reverse genetics, Siglecs and/or sialyglycans. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential.
