Plant Supervisor

System One is currently seeking a Plant Supervisor for an industry-leading client in the Pittsburgh, PA area.

The Plant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations at a manufacturing plant, ensuring that production goals are met in a safe and efficient manner . The Supervisor will supervise staff, monitor production processes, troubleshoot equipment issues, and ensure compliance with plant safety and product quality standards. This is a working supervisor position and hands-on work is required.

This job may involve assistance with pre and post-installation of the machines and plant systems in the customer’s facility.

Essential Functions

Interviews and trains employees, appraises their performance, disciplines, addresses complaints and resolves problems

Supervises and provides strategic guidance and expertise to the technical teams

Supervises, leads, trains and provides guidance to other shop personnel

Position may require working weekends; may vary as specified by management

Assist in the selection, training, and development of plant personnel, including preparation, review and approval of timesheets

Develop and administer training programs to ensure employee skills meet standards to operate and maintain the plant in a safe, regulatory compliant and efficient manner

Manage and/or conducts inspections and preventive maintenance to plant equipment

Perform the job in accordance with all applicable standards, policies and regulatory guidelines

Manage shift operations and participate in shift work in order to meet deadlines

Degree level education in a technical discipline or completion of a recognized trade apprenticeship (electrical, mechanical or instrument) or proven skills in this area

Substantial knowledge of safety regulations and operation practices

Good interpersonal & team working skills (Operators, customers, Regulators bodies, repair contractors)

Self-motivated and ability to work with limited supervision.

Ability to work when required including on-call/ overtime depending on changes in deadlines

Empower plant associates by building strong teams committed to manufacturing a superior product

Contribute to site safety performance improvement by holding workers and themselves accountable for safety

Work with site scheduling in planning of day-to-day activities.

Performs other tasks and duties as necessary

Required Education and Experience

Experience with hydraulics, piping, pneumatics, structural steel, painting, and electric motor driven systems is preferred.

Products produced by this operation are automated systems which may contain an assortment of presses, clamps, part manipulators, pump stations, temperature conditioning systems, positioning equipment, and conveyors in various combinations. Each system typically involves piping/hosing and related structural supports to connect pump systems to customer’s point of use.

Minimum of an Associate’s Degree or Trade School with five to ten years supervisory experience.

The ability to work independently as well as on a project team.
