The Solar BESS Technical Director will be responsible for overseeing our consultant engineering services for our Utility and Distributed Scale Solar and BESS projects.
The Solar BESS Technical Director will also be responsible for growing this practice through identification of new clients and opportunities and developing talent to support the successful execution of these projects.
The role will support business development, client interactions, proposal development and project execution.

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical or Renewable Energy Engineering.
Ten years of experience in design of solar PV and/or BESS facilities with strong understanding of layout optimization and technical knowledge of major equipment associated with solar PV and BESS facilities
Solid knowledge of the renewable power sector, its key stakeholders and regulatory environment, and well-established network of contacts with industry stakeholders, developers, off-takers, government representatives and financial stakeholders in the renewable energy industry.
Proficient in project execution of engineering design, material, equipment, and construction specification development for Solar BESS projects.
Familiar with utility scale solar project designs including single line drawings, civil, structural, electrical site plans, DC and AC wiring diagrams and equipment layouts.
Understands the construction applications of solar power plant design, including PV string sizing, DC and AC conductor and conduit sizing, and racking/tracker design and powering
General knowledge of solar plant SCADA requirements and design.
Experience with substation design review and coordination at medium voltages (usually 34.5 kV) to point of interconnect.
General knowledge of civil designs for solar plants including road design, plant grading design, drainage design, and permitting coordination.
Experience with energy storage in both utility-scale and/or large industrial facilities, including the following design types, is strongly preferred: battery technology/chemistry selection, battery sizing, one-line development, site arrangements, inverter selection, cable ampacity calculations, grounding, protective relaying and associated systems design and construction administration.
Experience in leading technical due diligence is preferred.
Understanding of project economics to provide PV design with the best NPV and IRR.
Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), and other relevant codes and standards as it relates to utility scale power plants is a plus
Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred.
Software experience utilizing PVsyst and AutoCAD programs, SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or similar software is preferred.
Field construction and commissioning experience is preferred.
Previous consulting engineering experience preferred.
Good communication skills and interest in engaging with Clients to grow relationships.
Experience in managing and mentoring staff
Excellent interpersonal skills to interface with internal and external stakeholders.
NABCEP certification preferred.
