Job Summary and Qualifications
Responsible for general accounting functions including financial reporting of HCA Florida Aventura Hospital’s operations and support of accounting management.
Prepares and enters general ledger journal entries, manual accruals, and verify supporting documentation
Assist with the maintenance of fixed assets system and verifies appropriateness of capitalization in accordance with corporate accounting standards.
Performs analysis of budget versus actual expenses. Researches and explains significant variances.
Assist with all phases of the completion of the following annual reporting packages: Annual Medicare Cost Report Documentation, Annual Income Tax Package, Annual Property Tax Package, Annual update to Physicians’ database.
Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of balance sheet reconciliations.
Periodically review corporate APGs to verify hospital’s compliance.
Respond timely to requests for information from Corporate, Internal Audit, PAS, CSC, RSC, Division and Hospital Management.
Assist with the preparation of explanation and documentation for MORs
Ensure that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved.
Maintain electronic file on physician’s contracts inclusive of payments, durations and other pertinent information.
Maintain electronic file on rents & leases inclusive of payments, durations and other pertinent information.
Has a thorough knowledge of the HCA Computer Systems, including, but not limited to the general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, SMART, QMIRS, CLEARACCESS, and BUSINESS OBJECT.
Monitor unclaimed property/patient valuables to ensure policy compliance.
Balance sheet review guide preparation.
Performs other duties as and when assigned.
Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential safety issues and employee injuries timely within 24 hours to supervisor and injury coordinator.
Obeys safety policies and uses lift equipment, maxi slides and assistance from coworkers when necessary.
Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm.
Assures that hourly rounding occurs on all assigned patients.
Knowledge of and utilization of chain of command.
What qualifications you will need:
Bachelor’s Degree required within 1 year from start date, major in Accounting or related field.
Minimum two years of general accounting experience with an emphasis in account reconciliation and financial reporting. Healthcare experience preferred.
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Highly developed organizational skills.
