SUMMARY
Assist design/production engineers with multiple tasks involving the systems (communications) engineering functions at Frontline Communications in Clearwater, FL.
YOUR IMPACT
Prepare vehicle component layouts using CAD software i.e., AutoCAD.
Select parts or components for quality conscious design, i.e., weight, cost, reliability, and ease of manufacturing.
Follow project on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production build and provide technical assistance. Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to find solutions to problems.
Perform or assist in the testing of complete vehicles or vehicle components.
Design, model, and test new communication systems components related to audio, video, network, and radio communications that integrate with a vehicle.
Update bill of materials to reflect product changes.
Set up and configure IP addresses, serial communication, etc. in mobile command centers.
All other duties or projects as assigned.
Job duties will vary depending on business unit and location of internship.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Student working towards a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or other related engineering field for entire duration of internship.
STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS
Good oral and written communication skills.
Experience in extracurricular activities outside academic requirements.
Previous internship experience or work-related experience.
Experience using AutoCAD or DraftSight is a plus.
Fundamental knowledge of networking and subnetting is desirable.
Previous experience or heightened interest in communications systems design.
