Amentum is currently searching for an Engineering Technician – Senior to support the NATO FORACS project in West Palm Beach, FL . The FORACS Engineering Technician – Senior supports sensor accuracy testing on US and NATO surface ships, submarines, and helicopters for the AUTEC Project. The NATO FORACS projects Mission is to provide NATO maritime forces with the opportunity to undergo comprehensive calibration of sensor, weapon, combat, communication and navigation systems ​to clearly defined accuracy and performance standards. The project operates under the umbrella of the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC). AUTEC supports Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E), and Fleet readiness assessment and training. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newports largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments.

Work may require the independent planning and accomplishment of test support activities, studies of broad scope and complexity, or serving as an expert in a narrow aspect of FORACS testing. Complexity of assignments typically requires considerable creativity and judgment to devise approaches to accomplish work, resolve test design and operational problems, and make decisions in situations where standard engineering methods, procedures, and techniques may not be applicable. Supervisor or professional engineer provides advice on unusual or controversial problems or policy matters and reviews work for compliance with overall project objectives. May supervise or train and be assisted by lower-level technicians.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Essential Responsibilities:

Install, operate, and maintain FORACS test support systems and equipment (acoustic target generation systems, radar transponders, EW simulator systems, theodolites, etc.) in a real time environment.

Perform standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of operations related to shipboard sensor accuracy testing in a real-time test environment.

Adapt procedures and operations as required to meet testing objective in a real-time test environment to meet testing objectives.

Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on equipment and systems used during FORACS testing.

Troubleshoot and perform corrective maintenance on equipment and systems to LRU.

Prepares required test support documentation; operates test support equipment, and records test data.

Report deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors.

Support engineering changes, prepare documentation, perform equipment modifications, and install and test new equipment.

Perform control system set-up, operations, fault isolation and repair of computer-controlled and embedded computer devices.

Conduct special studies and prepare technical reports regarding equipment performance and improvement.

Maintain equipment inventory, develop specifications for new equipment and prepare purchase requisitions.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Associates Degree in Engineering Technology and 10 years of related electronics experience.

In lieu of degree, 12 years of related electronics experience, with DoD training in the operation/maintenance/testing of navy sensor systems (radar, sonar, etc.).

Must be able to lift and carry material up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to climb stairs/ladders, work in tight spaces and work at heights.

Able to deploy to sea on navy ships and submarines and operate equipment from range support working craft.

May be required to travel to locations away from headquarters 25% – 50% of year, depending on testing schedule.

Able to deploy to locations with limited medical facilities for short duration.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Access.

Have/Obtain within 30 days, a US Passport.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology.

Familiar with naval shipboard operations, terminology, customs, traditions, and protocol.

Knowledge of acoustics theory, RF propagation theory, GPS tracking systems and computer networking.

Knowledge of U.S. Navy surface ship, submarine and helicopter navigation and target sensor systems.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.

Experience operating with in ISO 9001 QMS, Lean or other quality system.

Inventory/Asset Control

Active Secret clearance, preferred.
