Job Description
Actalent is seeking a Controls Engineer for our client out of Indianapolis, IN. These specific machines are used for the baking industry and some of the top customers include Kellogs, PepsiCo, Pretzels Inc, Craftmark, Cliff Bar, Pure Foods.
The Controls Engineer will be responsible for the overall design of the control systems to operate machinery. Under the direction of the Manager of the Electrical Design Group, ensure the functionality of the electrical design through manufacture, assembly, installation, and start-up. Responsibilities include creating bills of materials and issuing completed design packages to manufacturing and purchasing. Additional responsibilities are listed below:
Job Responsibilities:
– Travel 30% per year onsite to customer locations to implement, maintain, and upgrade software/hardware
– Design and program machine control systems using PLC/HMI solutions
– Simulate, test, and debug machine control systems in-house
– Check out and commission systems at end user facilities
– Create unique customer-focused solutions and programs
– Maintain project timelines and budgets
– Size and select equipment including VFDs, servos, power supplies, sensors, switches, motors, safety components, and other control devices for machines
Required Qualifications
Technical Associates degree (EET, MET, Industrial Automation)
Minimum of 3 years hands-on PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens)
Minimum of 2 years working within AutoCAD doing schematic and panel design
Must be willing to travel 20-30% domestic and international
