JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Athletic Trainer provides athletic training services to physically active individuals within the University in accordance with Pennsylvania Practice Act, established by the state board of medicine within the department of the state with the goal of optimizing performance athletic ability. Provide emergency care, develop injury prevention programs for student athletes, assess, treat, and rehabilitate the physically active person whose conditions are within the professional preparation and education of a certified athletic trainer, with the direction of a licensed physician.
In collaboration with team physicians, prevent, diagnosis, and treat emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities as defined by the NATA
Determine the treatment/rehabilitation needed for athletic injuries/illness and the athletes readiness to participate including pre-participation and post-injury/illness return
Supervise the organization, implementation, and review of a comprehensive injury prevention and performance enhancement programs for intercollegiate athletic teams, and club sports
Provide athletic training services for athletic events including games, practices, and strength and conditioning sessions
Research current methods of treatment and oversee adherence for required certifications and staff continuing education
Serve as an educational resource for matters related to Sports Medicine and Athletic Training for personnel internal to and affiliated with the University
Perform all aspects of health care administration including maintaining medical records, scheduling health care appointments, and ensure open lines of collaboration and communication with health care professionals and athletic staff
Recognize and monitor mental health, nutrition, and other health issues student athletes may be experiencing and refer to appropriate professional for intervention if appropriate
Assist in the education and supervision of Graduate Student Athletic Trainers
Oversee and coordinate student athlete entrance and exit physicals
Contribute to the development of an environment for student-athletes that is healthy, safe, equitable, and inclusive
May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management
Penn State Altoona Athletics, a member of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Athletic Trainer Supervisor.The Athletic Trainer Supervisor provides leadership and management of athletic training services to the NCAA Division III program in accordance with Pennsylvania Practice Act, established by the state board of medicine with the goal of optimizing athletic performance, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and student-athlete wellness. This position will serve as the direct supervisor for the athletic training, sports medicine, and conditioning staff and reports directly to the Director of Athletics and will participate as part of the athletics leadership team.
Ensure organization, implementation, and review of comprehensive injury prevention and performance enhancement programs for intercollegiate athletic and auxiliary teams. Supervise athletic training staff members, including hiring, development, performance manageme t, and team(s) / event coverage assignments. Perform all aspects of health care administration including maintaining medical records, scheduling health care appointments, and ensure open lines of collaboration and communication with health care professionals and athletic staff.
Serve as the primary Athletic Trainer for a set number of teams. Provide athletic training services for athletic events, including games and practices. Provide guidance and support to determine the treatment/rehabilitation needed for athletic injuries/illness and the athletes readiness to participate, including pre-participation and post-injury/illness return. Recognize and monitor mental health, nutrition, and other health issues that student-athletes may be experiencing and refer to appropriate professional for intervention, if appropriate. Contribute to the development of an environment for student-athletes that is positive, healthy, safe, equitable, and inclusive.
Education:
Masters Degree
Minimum of 3 years related experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Applicants with 6 years of experience will be considered for the Athletic Trainer – Senior Supervisor position
Required Certifications, Registrations, or Licensure: BOC Certified Athletic Trainer; PA State Licensed Athletic Trainer; Certified Health Care Provider (CPR/AED)

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$46,400.00 – $74,000.00
