JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
This opening will provide voice talent during select home Penn State Altoona NCAA Division III sporting events. Included in this position can be play-by-play or color commentary work during live web broadcasts of home games, public address announcing during home games, and sideline reporting at home basketball games.

On-Air Commentators will provide running commentary during live broadcasts of select Penn State Altoona home sporting events. Penn State Altoona Athletics streams live audio/video online for many home sports. The On-Air Commentators will attend specified home sporting events to call the game for an online audience watching and/or listening over the internet.
Job Duties
Play-by-Play Commentator: The primary voice which carries the broadcast. This position will give a professional, running description and explanation of the action during a sporting event to the online audience watching and/or listening on the internet.
Color Commentator: Add knowledgeable, supplementary commentary in support of the Play-by-Play Commentator.
Commentators will need to study relevant information and statistics about individual athletes, teams, opposing schools, etc. to reference during the broadcast.
Public Address Announcer: Provide voice announcements over the PA system for home varsity sporting events (consisting of baseball, basketball, soccer, swimming, and volleyball), including scripted and non-scripted announcements. This position also controls the music for home varsity sporting events (i.e. batter walkup songs for baseball and softball, music during timeouts, halftime music).
Basketball Sideline Reporter: Provides a live, on-air interview with the Penn State Altoona womens and mens basketball coaches during halftime of each teams home games in the Adler Arena. The brief interview is part of Penn State Altoonas live internet broadcast of home basketball games.
Requirements and Qualifications
Penn State Student with eligible Work Study award.
Strong knowledge of sports and relevant rules.
Must have the ability to speak well, communicate clearly, and have a professional-sounding voice.
Ability to multi-task.
Must wear business casual clothing while working home sporting events.
May require the ability to work in an outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.

Preferred (but not required) Skills:
Prior experience calling sports games live or as a public address announcer at sporting events.
Ability to improvise on the microphone when needed.
Ability to come up with thoughtful questions, commentary, etc. while discussing sports with a coach, player, or fellow commentator.
