rAbout This Role:

The A.Q. Miller School of Media and Communication at Kansas State
University and Collegian Media Group (CMG) seek a forward-thinking
journalistic leader to fill the position of CMG Director and Instructor
for our award-winning student media organization. This dynamic role is
split between teaching cutting-edge classes in news writing, media
design, social media and other relevant subjects, and being the director
of Student Publications Inc., which does business as Collegian Media
Group, answering to the CMG board of directors as well as the director
of the school.

What is expected:

The position entails a 50/50 split between teaching news and sports
writing, media design, and social media courses, and leading CMGs
student-run publications, a nonprofit 501(c)(3), including [“The
Collegian”](https://apptrkr.com/getredirect.php?id=5668405&targetURL=https://kstatecollegian.com/){target=”blank”}

staff, driving award-winning content, and engaging with the CMG board
and director of the school. It is student-run under the supervision of
full-time faculty advisors employed by the corporation. CMGs student
publications have won numerous national and regional awards.

As a faculty member of SMC, this person will serve on committees and be
expected to teach to the highest standards as well as being a teammate
on a forward-facing faculty, continuing and nurturing the symbiotic
relationship between the corporation and the School of Media and
Communication.

Ideal candidates will possess extensive experience in student media,
both in print and online, as well as mentoring and coaching students,
alongside a strong background in nonprofit management and strategic
planning. You should be fluent in creating new media, leading
fundraising initiatives, and fostering high school recruitment and
student engagement. Join us in revolutionizing student media and making
a lasting impact at Kansas State University!

Duties as Adviser:

– Advise students and review publication content and procedures for
CMG publications, with emphasis on “The Collegian,” an online and
