Looking for a job that makes a difference in the lives of local families?LSI currently seeks part-time Respite Providers to provide respite care services in the Marshalltown area (Marshall and Tama counties – typically no further than 30 minutes away). The purpose of respite care is to give the parent or primary caregiver a break from the daily responsibilities of caring for a child or adult with a disability.

If you are a person that has a passion to serve, have good communication skills, and the discipline to set your own schedule, being a Respite Provider may be for you. These families need a break from 24/7/365 care and supervision of their loved one, with a disability. You could be that person to provide that break for few hours a week or a weekend. This would mean the world to these families to have time to relax and rejuvenate and strengthens the family as a whole.

Hours may flex in accordance to the familys needs, some evenings and or weekend hours may be requested. This position also has the potential to work from home after a probationary period.

DUTIESThis position provides all care required to a child or adult with a disability while their parent or guardian is absent, while maintaining a safe and nurturing home-based environment. Special consideration may be given to applicants who are requested by the client or their family.Respite Providers who have not been requested by a client or their family will be matched with clients who are approved for services. These Respite Providers will provide services in the clients home, community or potentially in their own home.The Respite Provider position will not have any guaranteed or set hours. There may be extended periods of time with no hours being worked. In many situations a respite provider may work a few hours one day and then not work again for several weeks or months. All hours worked by a Respite Provider are at the request of the family and respite is often provided in the afternoons, evenings and on weekends.QUALIFICATIONSQualified applicants will have a high school diploma or GED. Experience working with people with disabilities preferred. Must have some computer skills for documentation.

This position requires a valid drivers license, auto insurance, a good driving record and the ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.
