POSITION TITLE: CashierACCOUNTABLE TO: Customer Service ManagerPRIMARY OBJECTIVETo perform customer checkout transactions as required for daily sales and to ensure a positive shopping experience for customers.NATURE AND SCOPEPrimary emphasis in this position is on following front end checkout procedures in all transactions, maintaining positive customer relations and expedient processing of all orders. The position requires on-going customer interaction, providing prompt, courteous and accurate service. This position requires on going social skills/verbal interaction, register/scanner operation, reading, light lifting, and standing. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs. Daily assignments and work direction is provided by the Customer Service Manager or person in charge.ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS1. Assist customers and ensure proper service levels and courtesy from all associates- Greet and thank customers- Answer or refer questions and respond to customer requests as needed- Bring customers to location of item- Perform price checks- Respond to customer assistance needs/calls promptly- Direct customer problems to management as appropriate- Monitor and ensure prompt, courteous, and accurate customer relationsFunctional RequirementsFrequent: Physical – lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs., equipment operation (scanner, register, check approval machine, coupon machine, intercom), reaching, standing and turningMental – Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.Occasional: Physical – lifting/carrying over 50 lbs., equipment operation(calculator) squatting, stooping/bending and walking2.
