Environmental Sample Manager

We’re looking for a sample manager to Coordinate field sampling activities with the on-site and off-site laboratories.
Duties include
Reviews chains of custody for accuracy and completion and resolves any discrepancies.
Tracks sample result delivery – hard copy report and EDD.
Ships samples in accordance with DOT regulations to off-site laboratories to run tests that are not performed on-site.
Performs splits and composites as needed.
Maintains bottle ware inventory and any other necessary supplies to perform tasks appropriately.
Other duties as assigned
A general understanding of environmental field and laboratory operations.
Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
Effective verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally
Ability to multi-task in a busy environment
A commitment to quality and safety are essential
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required
Bachelors degree or higher in Environmental Science or similar field is highly preferred
Experience in a field sampling role or in a Laboratory environment is desired
Extreme attention to detail is essential to success
Person already residing in the Pittsburg, PA area highly preferred
Essential Functions: Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
