JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Infrastructure Division within Penn State Information Technology is looking for a Network Administrator to join the Enterprise Networks and Communication Services (ENCS) Network and Design team. The Infrastructure Division provides a world-class set of technologies and services to a world-class university, providing solutions and platforms on which the Penn State community can do great things .
This position has flexible work arrangements encompassing both in-person and remote work; the position will require regular weekly work on campus . In addition, this position provides occasional on-call support. Questions related to the structure of the flexible work arrangements should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.
This position reports to Manager of Networks and Design and will be responsible for the following:
Monitoring , diagnosing, and correcting network troubles and performance issues
Ensuring proper operation of network services
Deliver value to Enterprise Network customers operationally through typical incident management and request fulfillment activities
Assist Engineers and Architects in development and testing of service improvements
Identifying opportunities for process improvement and make suggestions for change s
Create and maintain documentation for operations procedures and disaster recovery scenarios

Required Skills, Competencies, & Relevant Work Experience
This position will be filled as a Professional . No prior relevant work experience is required . This position requires a bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ideal skills, competencies, and relevant work experience may include:
Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and Industry standard network certifications preferred
Background with enterprise LANs, authentication methods, VLANs, Spanning Tree, and Layer 3 switching
Experience with network monitoring applications
Experience with System Administration of virtual machines
Experience/familiarity with: Brocade VDX/Juniper product line; IP fabrics, EVPN, VXLAN, firewall administration
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision , detail oriented, well organized, and a self-starter with the ability to work with diverse teams in a fast paced, dynamic environment
This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$56,200.00 – $81,500.00
