The Registered Nurse Pain Management performs general medical assisting functions. Ascertains and records patient’s pain level, vital signs, height and weight. Assists with pain management treatments; prepares equipment for physician; admits and discharge patients from facility; Initiates IV when necessary.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Actively participates in maintaining and/or improving quality improvement initiatives regarding Physician Billing computer system and patient satisfaction survey
Maintain high level of competence on Physician Billing computer system.
Takes active role in facilitation team approach to functions within the department which includes attending department meetings, actively participates as a team member in resolutionof problems as they are identified and analyzes current procedures, bring suggestions for improvement to the attention of team members and supervisor for consideration
Assists in filing charts and retrieving charts in preparation for next day
Assists in filing lab reports, etc
Admits and discharges patients from facility
Keeps exam rooms supplied and in order. Orders medical supplies in a timely fashion
Disposes of bio-hazardous waste and regular waste
Checks patient’s pain level, height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, respiration and temperature
Ascertains patient’s chief complaints and describes same in chart accurately and succinctly
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Requires sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours at a time). Continually uses fingers for patient care, writing and handling patient charts. Routinely usesupper extremities; occasionally lift items up to 25 pounds. Occasionally push cart with supplies up to 30 pounds. Must be able to transport patients (up to 325 lbs.) via wheelchair, bed, and/orstretcher. Stoop, bend and reach above shoulder level regularly. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation and taking blood pressure readings. Must be able to see as it relates to general, far,near, color and peripheral vision. Must have depth perception. Must be able to routinely use upper extremities to push and maneuver C-Arm into place. Must be able to wear a lead apron/skirt (up to 15 lbs), up to 8 hours at a time.
EDUCATION:
Registered Nurse with current licensure required.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Two years office experience in a similar setting. Current CPR required.
