Clinical Engineering (CE) Technician II

A Clinical Engineering (CE) Technician II participates in equipment planning, research, support and departmental projects and installs, maintains and repairs medical equipment at Cleveland Clinics Main Campus.

A caregiver in this position works 6:00am – 2:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Provide routine and as needed clinical engineering services (repair, maintenance, relocation, installation, etc.) for equipment.

Maintain documentation of equipment, inventory, service and repairs.

Collaborate with information technology caregivers to integrate medical equipment systems with information systems applications.

Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Associates degree in biomedical or electronic engineering.

Two years of Cleveland Clinic Clinical Engineering Technician I experience OR four years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting medical equipment or equipment in a mechanical or electrical technician field.

A high school diploma/GED and four years of Cleveland Clinic Clinical Engineering Technician I experience OR six years of outside experience maintaining and troubleshooting medical equipment in a mechanical or electrical technician field may substitute the required education and experience.

Equivalent specialized or military training may substitute the required education.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Bachelors degree in biomedical or electronic engineering or information technology. This will substitute the required experience.

Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) of Biomedical Engineering Technologist (BMET).

Physical Requirements:

Physical demands include ability to move 75 pounds; to climb 8-foot ladders and work on overhead equipment.

Ability to work in prone positions and in confined, darkened areas.

Manual dexterity to use tools and work on small mechanical parts.

Visual acuity sufficient to distinguish colors used for wire color coding and read finely printed blueprints and schematics.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $27.65

Maximum hourly: $42.17

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. While the pay range is displayed as an hourly rate, Cleveland Clinic recruiters will clarify whether the compensation is hourly or salary. A successful candidates actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidates work history, experience, skill set, and education.
