Job Summary

Supports the Director, Security Services in the proper and efficient operation of the departments assigned duties. This support includes supervisory responsibilities of subordinates, coordination and the supervision of department administration, budget preparation, monitoring, and administration; and preparation of staff research and reports; and the coordination and management of programs and projects. This position primarily provides support to Security and Human Resources Department. Will assist with department leadership in absence of director.

Essential Functions

Provides back-up shift coverage for the Supervisor, Security Operations, if needed and acts as the Director, Security Services when Director is absent. Primary liaison with Human Resources for internal investigations, high-risk terminations, and incident follow-up and investigation. Primary liaison with the Director, Facility Support Services, the FMC Manager, the Parking & Transportation Services and the Director, Facility Presentation

Utilizes all technologies employed within the department including the ability to provide technical and business process support to department personnel

Responsible for the administrative functions of the security department. The administrative functions include the purchase of all equipment, supplies, uniforms and vehicles. Performs other duties as assigned

Manages Coordinators of Investigation, Administration and Technology & Training. Responsible for project management of security support related projects

Responsible for recruiting and retention strategies. Appraises performance and rewards and disciplines employees

Manages security needs of regional facilities (e.g. regional hospitals)

Responsible for helping to develop, review and manage departmental polices

Qualifications

Required

Required Bachelors Degree Criminal Justice or related field. Or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the functions with a Security/Police Department

5 years of relevant experience Leadership experience related to healthcare security, security, or law enforcement

LIC-MI Commission on Law Enforcement (MCOLES) – STATEMI State of Michigan 180 Days

Preferred

Masters Degree In a related field

7 years of relevant experience Law enforcement or security leadership experience
