Financial Aid Specialist 1
Location: Lehi, UT
Status: Part-Time
Hours: Monday – Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Pay: $17.56.hourly
As the Mountainland Technical College (MTECH) Financial Aid Specialist, you will provide varied types of support to students who apply for and/or receive financial aid, scholarships or Veteran’s benefits. You will help the college ensure that students comply with any requirements tied to a financial award.

FINANCIAL AID SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide accurate information and guidance to students and families regarding available financial aid programs, eligibility requirements, application procedures, and deadlines.
Review and process financial aid applications, checking for accuracy of information and ensuring compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations.
Determine eligibility for various financial aid programs and awarding aid packages.
Communicate with students, families, and other stakeholders regarding financial aid matters through various channels such as email, phone, chat, remote, and in-person meetings.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial aid applications, awards, and disbursements.
Resolve issues and concerns related to financial aid, such as verification discrepancies, appeals, and special circumstances.
Participate in Scholarship Committee meetings and processes in determining awardees of competitive based scholarships.
COMPETENCIES
Understanding of federal, state and institutional financial aid programs
Provide excellent customer service to students, families, and various stakeholders
Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in tasks and duties
Ability to analyze financial information, assess student need, and make informed decisions
Adherence to ethical standards and regulations governing financial aid
Proficient in financial aid software, databases, and other technology tools
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to identify issues and find solutions
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across departments
Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing situations
FINANCIAL AID SPECIALIST REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
1 years of Customer Service experience
1 years of Financial experience (Banking or Bookkeeping)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient working knowledge of Excel, MS Word, And Data Management Systems
FINANCIAL AID SPECIALIST PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associates Degree in Accounting, Business or related field
1 years of experience in Higher Education Financial Aid
