Preferred Location: Palo Alto, CA. This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). The Ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations.
The Associate General Counsel – Technology Transactions is a key role in the Elevance Health Enterprise Legal Team providing strategic advice and counsel regarding complex enterprise-wide sourcing and procurement agreements, with a focus on the purchase and implementation of technology. This attorney will partner closely with business clients to understand their strategic objectives and use their in-depth technology expertise to independently complete complex matters in a fast-paced, collaborative and results driven environment.
How you will make an impact:
Provide legal support for a range of enterprise-wide sourcing and procurement matters with a focus on a range of complex technology transactions.
Draft and successfully negotiate a broad spectrum of complex agreements with liability profiles consistent with Elevance Health standards, including high value professional services, outsourcing, cloud/software as a service, hardware, and software.
Advise and train on complex legal issues related to cloud computing, machine learning and artificial intelligence, data rights, Health IT, open-source software and compliance with evolving privacy and information security laws and regulations.
Successfully support clients in the Elevance Health’s Information Technology, Corporate, Digital, and Procurement organizations, collaborate with Information Security, Privacy, Tax, Finance and Corporate Development, and provide advice and assistance to management and executives.
Support resolution of software audits and vendor disputes.
Supervise outside counsel and manage associated budgets.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires a JD, current license to practice law, and a minimum of 9 years of specific industry and/or technical legal experience post licensure; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:
Experience as the primary attorney negotiating major transactions in health care technology.
Knowledge of legal issues related to artificial intelligence in procurement transactions and technology implementation
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects independently and successfully.
Ability to effectively advocate/problem-solve in real time to obtain desired outcomes and meet regulatory requirements.
Ability to successfully and confidently deal with senior lawyers, opposing counsel and senior business leaders.
10 years or more of legal experience with technology matters.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly contract drafting and negotiation skills, and the ability to effectively present information to, and advise, senior management.
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
Ability to build trust and confidence with clients in a complex corporate environment.
For candidates working in person or remotely in the below location(s), the salary range for this specific position is $198,048 to $297,072.
