A Day in the Life
The Senior Supervisor of Maintenance Planning will oversee a team of 30 maintenance professionals, spare parts and machine shop resources within a medical device FDA-regulated environment. This role ensures safety, compliance, and quality in all maintenance activities while optimizing equipment performance to minimize business disruptions.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing both technical and soft skills within the maintenance team.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to uphold safety, compliance, quality standards, and business continuity, while achieving cost targets.
Managing preventive maintenance (PM) for manufacturing equipment, focusing on safety and quality compliance.
Leading troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts aimed at reducing downtime and ensuring project collaboration and implementation, as well as maintaining spare parts accuracy and budget compliance.
Supporting audits, eliminates safety risks and ensure compliance.
Supportings and facilitating the implementation and transfer of new equipment.
Overseeing the integration and execution of Maintenance Excellence (MEx) elements.
Responsible for recruiting and onboarding new team members as needed.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintenance management within regulated environments and a proven track record of driving team performance and operational excellence.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Supervises skilled traders, general maintenance employees or outside contractors who construct, maintain, and repair utilities systems, buildings, and equipment.
Sets priorities and performs forecasting and allocates the resources needed to complete all preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
May be responsible for building, maintenance, and repair budget for some or all of the facility, depending on scope and span of control.
May be responsible for maintenance of high voltage systems, utility infrastructures, steam generators, and piping systems.
Provides support to production services by ensuring that maintaining equipment, power, and light services for all facilities.
Management Skills: Management of Financial and Material Resources, Critical Thinking, Project Management, Management of Personnel Resources, Collaboration and Productivity Software, Effective Communication Skills.
Functional Skills: Systems Thinking, Installation, Machining and Manufacturing Technologies, Quality Management, Technology Awareness.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Requires 3 years of experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Bachelors in engineering is required

Proven experience as a leader in managing technical resources is essential, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role overseeing technical teams.
SKILLS:
Preventive Maintenance Planning: Proficiency in developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs is vital for minimizing equipment downtime. Effective planning reduces the risk of unexpected failures, thereby increasing overall productivity and efficiency.
Safety Management: Strong skills in identifying and mitigating safety risks can prevent workplace accidents and promote a culture of safety.
Budget and spare parts inventory Management: The ability to create and manage budgets effectively is essential for controlling costs while meeting maintenance needs. This skill ensures that resources are allocated efficiently, contributing to the financial health of the organization.
Continuous Improvement & Project Management: This skill ensures that maintenance initiatives are well-organized, tracked, and aligned with business objectives. This skill enables the identification of process inefficiencies and drives initiatives that support operational excellence.
Technical & Troubleshooting – Problem Solving Skills: A strong technical background in mechanical, electrical, or automation systems is crucial for diagnosing equipment issues. This expertise allows the supervisor to provide effective solutions and guidance to the maintenance team.
People Leader: Effective leadership skills are essential for guiding and motivating maintenance personnel. Effective Communication, Conflict resolution, Coaching and development, and Visionary thinking.
Data Analysis: Strong analytical skills in interpreting maintenance data and performance metrics enable informed decision-making.
