Job Title: Specimen Processor
Location: Elmwood Park, New Jersey
Contract Duration: 4 Months (Contract-to-Hire)
About the Role
Join our dedicated team as a Specimen Processor, where you will play a crucial role in the laboratory workflow. You will be responsible for accurately processing incoming samples while ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Sample Management: Receive, identify, label, and process various specimen types, including blood, stool, urine, and biopsies.
Data Entry: Input demographic and specimen data into the laboratory information system with 100% accuracy.
Labeling: Create and affix labels for specimen containers, slides, and other materials submitted by clients.
Quality Control: Recognize and report any specimen issues to designated personnel.
Multi-tasking: Efficiently handle multiple requisitions while maintaining departmental production goals.
Support Duties: Assist Laboratory Aides with filing requisition slips, glass slides, and paraffin blocks, and perform supply maintenance and clean-up tasks.
What We’re Looking For
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Typing Skills: Must pass a typing test of at least 7500 keystrokes per hour with 95% accuracy or higher.
Experience: Previous laboratory and overnight experience preferred; medical scribe experience is a plus.
Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately read and enter data from specimen labels.
Work Environment
On-Site Role: This position is fully on-site in a large specimen processing room.
Team Collaboration: Work alongside over 80 colleagues on the night shift to manage workflow effectively.
Safety Protocols: Adhere to safety precautions while handling sealed samples, including specimens, using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Compensation
Night Shift: $18.15 per hour
