The Opportunity

This is a 12-week internship starting in May or June 2025, depending on your availability. Nutanix offers both remote and hybrid internships where you would work from the San Jose, CA office 2-3 days/week. Submit your application by October 16th, 2024.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic bachelor’s student to join our UX Research & Data Science team as an intern. As a Data Science Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of data science and quantitative research, working alongside experienced UX researchers and data scientists on real-world projects. This internship is designed to provide valuable learning experiences for individuals interested in pursuing a career in data science, particularly in areas that involve analyzing and interpreting complex data sets to drive business decisions.

Your Role

Assist in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data from various sources, including structured and unstructured data sets.

Collaborate with the Data Science team to identify research goals, objectives, and methodologies for analyzing business challenges.

Analyze in-product telemetry data to gain insights into user behavior and product performance, and provide recommendations based on the findings.

Develop and implement data models and algorithms to support quantitative research and predictive analytics.

Create data visualizations, reports, and dashboards to effectively communicate insights and research findings to stakeholders.

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management and UX research, to provide data-driven insights that inform product development and user experience design.

What You Will Bring

You are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field with a strong interest in quantitative research.

Solid understanding of data analysis techniques, statistical methods, and machine learning principles.

Experience with telemetry analysis tools such as Google Analytics, Matomo, Hotjar, or similar.

Experience with data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, or similar.

Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and experience creating clear, insightful visualizations.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with large, complex data sets.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present data-driven insights to non-technical audiences.

The Process

Second Round: Technical interviews with our hiring teams to showcase your skills.

Students who advance to this round, will receive preparation and details on any pre-assignments to complete prior to October 24.

Students attending the second round should expect multiple interviews with the UX Research team designed to assess your technical skills and role readiness, motivation for the opportunity at Nutanix, and when required, a pre-assignment aligned to the role you’ll be playing on our team. Each meeting will offer you an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the team you’ll potentially work with.

The pay range for this position at the commencement of employment is expected to be between$30-$53/hour; however, base pay may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may or may not include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 30 and USD $ 53 per hour.
