MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

Summary You will serve as a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC in the Center for Ordnance Disposal and Diving (CEODD) of NAV SCHOOL EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE DISPOSAL. Responsibilities You will Interpret guidelines (e.g., blueprints, diagrams, sketches, technical specifications) to complete facilities maintenance and repair work (e.g., roofing, painting, woodcraft, carpentry, structural). You will determine tools needed to complete maintenance and repair of buildings, structures, fencing, landscaping, storm drains, roads, or other facilities. You will inspect utility and disposal systems to determine conformance to standards or to locate leaks and other defects. You will select materials to perform carpentry work to verify fit, dimensions, structural integrity, and other required objectives are met. You will set up electrical systems equipment by arranging the required materials (e.g., wiring, conduits, couplings, fittings, relays, boxes, circuit breakers) to verify safe operation. You will use close tolerance measuring devices and tools (e.g., voltmeters, ammeters, multimeters, vacuum and acid pumps, pressure gauges, humidity recorders, micrometers, calipers, soldering equipment) to repair and test equipment. You will determine types of equipment (e.g., tools, parts, materials) needed for installation and repair of plumbing systems. You will use basic tools (e.g., impact wrenches, sockets, torque wrenches, brake tools, screwdrivers) to assist in making repairs or modifications to landscaping equipment.
