Position Details:

Mental Health Tech / Behavioral Health Tech

Requirements: MUST have 1 years of recent direct facility patient care experience – CSU; behavioral or mental health experience.

Facility/Hospital Experience required, recently: baker act / psychosis experience – Crisis Stabilization Unit – detox – bi polar

Shift Length: 12hr

Full Time, 36 hours per week

shift available: 7a – 7p / 7a – 7p ~ rotating weekends required

Start Date: ASAP

Length of Contract: 13 – 26 weeks

Temp to perm options available

Orientation/training will be provided upon start

Other locations available: Pinellas Park, FL / St. Pete, FL / Bradenton, FL

Compensation:

Competitive pay

The Mental / Psychiatric Health Technician cares for individuals with psychiatric conditions as well as a variety of substance use disorders, following the instructions of physicians, nurses or other health practitioners. The Behavioral Health Technician monitors a patients’ safety, physical and emotional well-being and report directly to medical staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides personal care and behavioral assistance/interventions to assigned clients

Assists clients with grooming, eating/meal preparation, and toileting

Maintains rounding on assigned clients/patients to ensure safety as directed

Assists with ambulation and transfer services

Monitors vital signs such as heart rate and blood pressure

Provides behavioral support services

Provides crisis intervention

Encourages independence

Maintains patient safety

Implements behavioral plans

Documents care per policies and procedures

Participate in rehabilitation and treatment programs

Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent required

Associate’s degree in behavioral studies or related field, or equivalent experience preferred (or per facility requirements)

Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience preferred

Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

Participation and completion of Amergis Competency program when applicable

Current CPR if applicable

TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site

Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required

Computer proficiency required

Must be at least 18 years of age
