Salary: $16.67/hr – $19.81/hr

DUTIES INCLUDE:
Functions as Kennel Manager overseeing daily activities of the kennel including supervising Kennel Attendants (i.e. ensures work of subordinates completed in timely and accurate manner, determines work priorities, ensures prescribed procedures are followed; evaluates employee performance, initiates disciplinary action, provides training.) Approves, coordinates the use of, and oversees volunteers. Ensures that the dog kennel facility is clean and dogs under the control of the Warden are treated humanely, properly fed, exercised, and maintained. Determines the actions necessary to maintain a viable dog kennel including care and feeding routines and making sure the necessary policies and procedures are in place to carry out that function. Assists the Chief Dog Warden and Deputy Dog Warden(s) in working with organizations and the general public to foster and adopt dogs to minimize euthanasia. Attends meetings as directed. Assists with maintaining records of licenses sold; warnings issued; citations issued; charges filed; and, licenses purchased in the prior year but not renewed. Works with the County Safety Coordinator to identify and execute training opportunities that are pertinent to the operation of the kennel.
Completes all reports accurately and in a timely manner. Receives messages, provides general information and transmit messages to appropriate personnel. Performs clerical functions and operates office equipment as needed.
Works alone or with other persons in short or long-term special assignments/projects to resolve problems or conflicts in any area of county operations or to complete assigned projects. Participates in cross-training and maintains proficiency in areas of cross-training as necessary. New and other related duties as assigned. Reports safety/risk management issues to immediate Supervisor. New and other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school education or GED Equivalent. Experience in working with dogs and/or working in an animal shelter environment required. Experience as a supervisor, lead worker, mentor, or in managing, directing and/or training others desired. Ability to direct in the safe and efficient operations of dog kennels. Ability to communicate effectively with management, peers, subordinates, and the public. Ability to prioritize work efforts. Ability to work with dogs, recognize different breeds of dogs, recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate action is required.
