Probationary Period: 120 Days
Salary: Minimum rate of $16.67 per hour
Posting Period: Position will be open through October 11, 2024 or until filled.
JOB DUTIES:
Provides initial public contact, greets visitors, interviews applicants for all development related projects including but not limited to permit intake at counter, accepting applications for residential, non-residential, driveway, road frontage, new minor/major subdivisions, OBC and other departments as needed. Calculates, verifies and processes fees for all applications; processes plans and routes to appropriate departments. Monitors Sharefile submissions. Processes applications submitted through Citizen Self-Service (CSS).
Takes inspections via phone and schedules timed inspections with appropriate fire departments; computer input of daily inspections; verifies application information before input and issuance of permit; computer input of permit applications, Directs incoming calls to inspector and other staff as instructed. Assures that all customer complaints are addressed and closure is obtained in a timely manner. Processes all payments. Process plans and permits after Plans Examiner reviews are completed and reviews residential lots for access to water lines and allowable sewer lines. Able to locate parcels, print maps, and perform other related GIS functions. Implements new procedures. Prepares and mails letters.
Assists supervisor with developing and implementing new procedures to streamline existing process of work. Prepares, verifies and corrects forms, files and reports including, but not limited to: compiles daily electric release forms for Duke Energy and other electric companies then emails release form; prints and processes permits, Certificates of Occupancy, Certificates of Completion, invoices and file labels; balances daily receipts; computer entry of daily receipts. Contacts customers on OBC status in reference to fees; issues revision letters. Prints activity reports as needed. Distributes mail and maintains files. Prepares request for refunds. Prepares electrical disconnect notices and sends to appropriate electrical company. Makes decisions relating to job in the absence of the supervisor.
Works alone or with other persons in short- or long-term team projects to resolve problems or conflicts in any area of operations or to complete assigned projects at the direction of supervisor or Department Head when assigned. Participates in cross-training and maintains proficiency in area of cross-training as necessary. Works to reduce or eliminate safety/risk concerns in current position or work location. Reports safety/risk management issues to immediate supervisor. New and other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent. Good public relations and customer service skills are required for this position. Must also have basic computer skills; ability to calculate fractions, decimals and percentage; read and write common vocabulary; proofread material, recognize errors, and make correction.
